Resources for schools

Online teaching materials based around a case-study of Loch Leven have been developed for the national curriculum in Scotland, specifically N5 Biology and N5 Chemistry. The projects focus on the use of macroinvertebrates to assess the level of pollution in rivers upstream and downstream of waste water treatment works.

Information for students on research activities:

  1. Creating a macroinvertebrate identification key
  2. Water quality assessment using invertebrates — desk based study
  3. Water quality assessment using invertebrates — field study

Guidance notes for teachers are also provided.
